HERBARIUM Art Project

_______________________________________________________________

HERBARIUM was created by Andrey Alioshin and Alexander Kotlomanov in 2001. Exhibitions of art project to date have been in the Anna Akhmatova Museum at Fountain House (2001), Zoological Museum (2003), Gallery "Coffee Break" (2003), the Museum of V.V. Nabokov (2005, 2007, 2010).

The first projects HERBARIUM — "Myth of Bypass Canal" and "Atlantis" — have been associated with images of soil mythology, the real sacred places, where there are characters of ancient legends who have lived to this day. Investigating the mysterious space artists with a truly maniacal research recreate another reality as elusive and emerging nature.

A new period in the history of HERBARIUM began in 2005 with the opening of the exhibition "In the Embrace of the Electric Form", which was developed theme of electricity as a parallel reality, not an abstract flow of electrons, and quite conscious movement, which has its own unique forms and their endless variations.

In 2007 HERBARIUM attempted to expand the membership to version A3 and asked for cooperation Anton Astapov. Updated HERBARIUM started the project "Light of Three Kingdoms", fully settled in the ancient technique of stained glass. Using the experience of previous eras and style of today, the authors sought to embody in it the images of the living world, and each party is "responsible" for one of the Kingdoms of nature — sky, earth and water. We can say that each of the authors presented a solo mini-project within a holistic exposure. Andrey Alioshin turned to the theme of the sky. Alexander Kotlomanov decided to interpret the element of earth in forms neosotsrealizma. The fantastic world of the ocean depths with their infinitely beautiful inhabitants displayed the stained glass in its Anton Astapov.

In 2010 HERBARIUM presented to the public a new project — "Anatomy of the Tower of Babel". Analyzing and studying the nature of human creativity, HERBARIUM went to a metaphysical formula deducing ascending the Tower of Babel on the basis of human vanity and total ignorance.

What is the interior of the Tower of Babel? According to Alexander Kotlomanov, it is an internal bug designate a total organism, purposeful upward through the gap with normal functional bodies. With respect to the exterior all the more understandable, as there are images of Tower in miniature, on which everything seems to be and build. However, it was not without snags. But the question is, what is the exterior, Andrey Alioshin, says: "I do not know exactly what, but sometimes it seems to me that that an architectural form that increasingly squeezes his ring around us, and there is a very unfortunate exterior, sung by us in this project.
